Happy Halloween 2007. This year has mostly been dedicated to painting and drawing, but I cannot forget Halloween. Since some of you have been curious about how I go about creating a pumpkin portrait, here is the very beginning. I start with quick study sketches, which aren't fully detailed drawings, and then I sketch key portions (which I use for landmarks) directly onto the pumpkin with a washable marker, and then I just carve.
